The Rank and File
A strong union needs strong stewards. As your Regional Representative I can leverage my participation on the Member Services Commitee to ensure proper training is given to stewards when they need it.
Rank and file members need to be condifent that stewards who can meet their needs are available, knowledgeable and skilled. That means, we need to recruit, retain and identify the skill sets of members who can or will become stewards.
Steward Reforms
As your Regional Representative I would be seeking steward reforms that encourage the use of elections to ensure larger offices are appropriately represented. I would be seeking the identification of the activities stewards perform locally (some are information type stewards, some are representational stewards).
Steward Development Programs
The PIPSC organization is in the process of developing a steward development program and as your REgional Representative I would like to participate in its development. Accordingly I have already provided a forum for all PIPSC members to be a part of and start the knowledge transfer process - join the conversation at www.pipcs.com I would like your comments and feed back.
